MLC 2006 news update ...On 20 July 2012, the Government of Cyprus deposited with the International Labor Office the instrument of ratification of the Maritime Labor Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006). Cyprus is the 29th ILO member State and the ninth EU member State to have ratified the Convention. We need only 01 member state to fully implement the new convention. For me, this is a good news especially for the seafarers. The pressure is now on the part of the owners.

The issues of Panatag Shoal...one of the hot issue in the Intl news is about Panatag shoal. This is a big issue on Intl Maritime Law. The Philippines, the People's Republic of China, and the Republic of China (Taiwan) all claim Panatag Shoal. As a Filipino I'll be on Phil side but of course if I'm a Chinese I'll also depend the right of China. Hopefully, this issue will settle in a peaceful manner.

Fire Test Procedures (2010 FTP Code)

International Code for the Application of Fire Test Procedures (2010 FTP Code) mandatory from 1 July 2012

Amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) to make mandatory the International Code for the Application of Fire Test Procedures (2010 FTP Code) came into force on 1 July 2012, thereby enhancing the fire safety provisions onboard all ships.
